TikTok Adds 7 New Editing Tools, Photo Mode and More
There’s no doubt that TikTok is constantly upgrading its features to improve user experience on the platform.
It released 7 new editing tools, photo mode and even options for sharing longer descriptions to give creators more freedom over the content they post, the company announced recently.
These new tools are sure to inspire creativity among users by allowing them to easily adjust clips, sounds, images and text. According to TikTok, these changes have been already made available to creators in the U.S. and most regions worldwide.
TIKTOK 7 New Editing Tools:
Now users will be able to power their storytelling by:
- Editing clips: Stack, trim, and split video clips
- Editing sounds: Cut, trim, and set the duration for sounds
- Editing and positioning text: Edit, position, and set the duration for text easily
- Adding overlays: Add photo and video overlays for picture-in-picture (or video-in-video) stacking
- Adjusting video speed: Speed or slow the pace of video clips
- Framing content: Rotate or zoom in and out of frame of individual clips
- Adding sound effects: Add musical soundtracks to videos and photo carousels
Photo Mode
Photo Mode allows users to share carousel posts of still images that automatically display one after another as a new way to express themselves. Creators can also add music to soundtrack the images, that viewers can swipe through at their own pace on TikTok.
We can already imagine how this latest addition could spark new trends, such as before and after shots of a day out, carousels of memes or maybe slideshows of fashion diaries which will offer another means to reach an audience.
Share longer descriptions
In addition, TikTok’s video and image descriptions just got a whole lot longer. The company has officially announced its longer captions, giving creators the opportunity to have up to 2,200 characters to accompany each post. This is a really big jump as previously users were allowed to write only 300 characters for the same.
This undoubtedly plays a great role in the app’s growing value as a discovery platform, especially for Gen Z. In fact, Google itself recently noted that almost 40% of young people now use TikTok and Instagram for search, instead of Google. It seems like TikTok is becoming the new Google or in other words, the favourite search engine for young users.
