Pinterest rolls out new features to boost sales commissions
Pinterest is taking its features to the next level. Yes, you heard it right! Pinterest lately announced the shift of its static product pins to its new, creator-led Idea Pins to boost sales commissions.
Idea Pins are multi-page video pins that help creators share inspirational content and promote community engagement on Pinterest. Creators will be able to tag products in their Pin Ideas to make their content shoppable. They will be able to earn commissions through affiliate programs and partner with brands on sponsored content, much like on other social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
To put it in one simple sentence, Pinterest allows creators to add brands to their Idea Pins and once these brands approve the given tags, the pin then displays a “paid partnership” label. As video and music-driven content are social media’s biggest trends, Idea Pins work well to influence the community of Pinners to turn their purchase intent into actual transactions.
Besides creator tools, Pinterest has introduced a Shopping List feature where users can save product pins in one single place so that when they are ready to buy, they don’t have to waste time searching these products through saved pins and boards. Users even receive notifications when there’s a price drop, thus, further encouraging sales.
