TikTok Launches In-app Shopping Feature to Compete with Amazon
TikTok is revolutionizing the shopping journey and making products sell out by constantly introducing new and interesting features. It has just launched an In-app Shop where users can make purchases directly through the app. It officially began testing in the U.S. market this week, where it is most likely to compete with Amazon and other retail giants just in time for the holiday shopping season.
TikTok has introduced a sign-up page for TikTok Shop on its website so that interested merchants can directly sell their products to consumers through the video-sharing app.
“TikTok Shop is an innovative new shopping feature which enables merchants, brands, and creators to showcase and sell products directly on TikTok through in-feed videos, LIVEs, and the product showcase tab,” the official site reads.
It is important to note that the new feature is invite-only and is currently not available to advertisers and brands globally. At present, TikTok is inviting select U.S. businesses to engage in the initiative, which also means that live streamers from other places will need to continue directing shoppers to third-party websites.
A TikTok spokesperson said, “We’ve seen the positive impact of TikTok Shop, and we’re excited to continue experimenting with this new commerce opportunity to support businesses of all sizes,”
